Introduction

Hi everyone, and welcome to the Exploring God with Children Project!

This project is made possible by a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc., and it’s being run through America Evangelical University. I'm Joshua Ryoo, and I serve as the project director. Our project team has four members: Estela, Liliana, Susana, and Cristina. We’re so excited that you’re here.

The heart of this project is really simple: we want to give kids the chance to open the Bible, get curious, and start exploring God’s Word for themselves. It’s a way of doing worship at home that creates a safe, protected space where children can meet with God—without parents or teachers stepping in to explain everything.

Why do we do this? Because we believe something really important: every child is created in God’s image, and that means every child has the ability to connect with God directly. Through prayer, reading the Bible, and listening to their own thoughts and feelings, children can grow in their relationship with God. And we trust that the Holy Spirit will guide them along the way. So, when you do home worship using our manuals, please start with a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to guide you and your children in exploring God through the Bible.

Here’s how it works:

  • For 12 weeks, your child will use a special home worship guide to spend time with the Bible.
  • They’ll get a packet with the home worship manual, as well as some little gifts. These will come to your church first, and your pastor or youth pastor will give them to you.
  • During this 12 week period, the children will learn to explore Scripture on their own, grow curious about God’s Word, and develop the habit of turning to the Bible whenever they have questions or worries.

And we believe three really good things will come out of this:

  1. Kids will fall more in love with the Bible and God’s Word.
  2. Parents will discover new respect for their children’s voices, as kids share their own thoughts and discoveries.
  3. Children will build strong spiritual habits—learning to go back to the Bible and prayer again and again in daily life.

Now, the only thing we’re asking of you is simple: there’s a short pre-test before the 12 weeks, and a short post-test after the 12 weeks. Each one is just 7 questions—quick and easy! This helps us see how the project is working, especially in growing children’s curiosity about God and the Bible.

So, thank you so much for joining us in this special journey. We pray this will be a time where your children grow closer to God in wonderful ways.

If you have any questions, you can always email us at egcproject2025@gmail.com or visit our homepage at EGCProject.com and leave a note there.

Thanks again, and we can’t wait to see how God works in your family through this project!
